An American in Scotland: Shopping in Glasgow

Second only to London in shopping, Glasgow has something for everyone:

Including: Buchanan Galleries, St Enoch Centre, Prince’s Square, Argyll Arcade, Merchant Square, Sauchiehall Street, and Buchanan Street which all intersect into a giant shopping mecca called ‘City Centre’. Literally this is all together in a tiny block of shopping-ness with Buchanan Street at the center. I swear Buchanan Street is a 20 minute walk from one end to another, and its just paved with shops. Argyll Arcade up there? 32 jewellery shops. Seriously that’s all the street is. Jewellery. Buchanan Galleries is an indoor mall at the head of Buchanan Street with 90 shops itself. And I’m pretty sure I could throw a rock from one coffee shop and hit another. Or an H&M because I think there are around three of those things. And that is just City Centre’s shopping - not all of Glasgow’s shopping. 

Another girl studying abroad from my same home college and I went out to the IKEA, a first for me, to buy stuff I needed for school (pots and pans, bedding because I needed extra, towels, cups, plates, etc.). It was at a huge shopping area on your way to the airport. Also IKEA has everything, I had never been to one before but you can literally buy anything you need for your home in one. They even have a restaurant that serves pretty good food. But the point is that there are several (I know of 3) shopping centres outside of City Centre like this. 

Yeah so shopping? Glasgow’s got it covered.
